Diane C. Fernald RN JD is a nurse attorney will deep experience in healthcare, as well as in medical malpractice defense. She received her nursing degree in 1981, specializing in rehabilitation nursing and long-term care. In 1987, she received her MBA in Healthcare Administration from Western New England University, and worked in various administrative positions in hospitals and long-term care until 1996. Her achievements during this time included serving as the Vice-President of Nursing at a Western Massachusetts community hospital, and assisting in the launching of a new nursing home in Massachusetts, with the implementation of new and innovative care models for the elderly both in the community and in the facility. After obtaining her law degree in 1996, Ms. Fernald combined her skills and knowledge of healthcare and the law as a healthcare and medical malpractice defense attorney. She specialized not only in the defense of medical malpractice cases, but represented licensed professionals in professional liability claims. She also was involved in defending mass tort pharmaceutical cases, and provided legal counsel for an international Alzheimer Care organization. Ms. Fernald also served for 20 years an adjunct professor at Our Lady of Elms College in Chicopee, MA teaching healthcare law and administration to both nursing and paralegal students.
