An active area of our practice is analyzing insurance issues and providing coverage opinions in disputes involving the interpretation of health, commercial liability, automobile liability, property and casualty, law enforcement liability, and environmental liability insurance policies. This area of our practice is a natural progression from the many years we have been retained by insurers to represent their insureds in tort and contract disputes. As a result of our highly regarded professional liability practice, our firm often is retained by physicians and/or medical groups to represent them in addition to defense counsel retained by their malpractice carrier in order to monitor the underlying litigation and protect their individual interests. These cases require us to analyze the applicable coverage as well as interact with insurers and defense counsel to accurately evaluate and manage the underlying litigation to minimize the potential personal exposure of their clients.
